HOLBROOK RECEIVES UNSUNG HERO AWARD 01/10/2012
For his long-time dedication and commitment to his credit union, its members, and the industry, the California Credit Union League has named Evangelical Christian CU CEO Mark G. Holbrook as a 2011 recipient of the Unsung Hero Award. The award honors deserving individuals within the credit union industry with at least 20 years of service who also have made significant contributions in the community. CUs RECEIVE HIGHEST SCORE IN SURVEY 12/15/2011
This week the American Customer Satisfaction Index, a national economic indicator of customer satisfaction with household products and services, released a report indicating consumers are more satisfied than ever before with credit unions. The 87 percent score (on a scale of zero-100) was the highest score reached in any of the ASCI's 47 industries that it surveys, and surpasses previous high marks credit unions have garnered from this study. LEAGUES CEO VISITS GUATEMALA CUs 12/01/2011
California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues President and CEO Diana Dykstra recently visited the Federación Nacional de Cooperativas de Ahorro y Crédito, Guatemala’s national credit union trade association, to become acquainted with the country’s credit union industry, advocate at the Central Bank and Superintendency of Banks with the World Council of Credit Union and FENACOAC officials, and conduct two learning sessions with FENACOAC officials and Guatemala credit union CEOs. CURoots Cooperative—the credit union service organization launched last year by several credit unions and the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues to help credit unions reduce back-office costs—recently held its first annual meeting, elected its new board of directors, and set priorities for the upcoming year. BOCK, ROYCE TO SPEAK AT WCMS EVENT 07/05/2011
Google Senior Vice President of People Operations Laszlo Bock will serve as keynote speaker, while Credit Union National Association President and CEO Bill Cheney will deliver the commencement address and Congressman Ed Royce, R-CA, will discuss current legislation affecting credit unions at Western CUNA Management School’s 50th anniversary celebration and conference July 20-21. CUs LEARN FINANCIAL LITERACY TIPS 06/01/2011
Nearly 20 education, business, and credit union professionals attended a free train-the-trainer workshop May 19 designed to teach how to effectively use the award-winning Biz Kid$ program in the classroom.
