Our advocacy team works daily with elected officials, staff, the executive offices, gubernatorial appointees, and the decision-makers of California and Nevada. |Erick Orellana, Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Credit Unions at the California Department of Business Oversight|
The deputy commissioner position is a statutory role existing in the credit union state financial code that serves at the pleasure of the governor currently in office. As deputy commissioner, Orellana will oversee and administer California’s credit union laws.
In the coming days, Orellana will be sworn in. He has a long history in the credit union movement, formally serving as CEO of Nikkei CU in Gardena, CA (2005-2013) and CEO of Southern California Postal CU in Long Beach, CA (2000-2004).
He has also served as a compliance consultant for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues in 2000, vice president and office manager for LBS Financial CU from 1999-2000, and a branch manager at San Mateo CU from 1998-1999 and ARCO CU from 1992-1997.
Orellana replaces RaAnn Wood, who served as an appointee of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
