|Job Description||Primary Functions:
Develop, manage and maintain reliable accounting information and reporting on income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and capital for management planning and decision making and for fulfillment of financial reporting requirements. Manage the activities of the accounting department and staff. Ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
•Supervises accounting functions and preparation of reports and statistics detailing financial results. Coordinate schedules, activities and reports with other departments.
•Implement policies and procedures for the accounting department and insure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations, and are communicated to and implemented by direct reports.
•Ensure that all activities are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and that the accounting records are maintained accurately and in compliance with laws and regulations.
•Responsible for review of general ledger reconciliation, analysis of financial accounts, and preparation of journal entries.
•Complete special projects as required by VP/Controller.
•Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff.
•Develop and maintain complex computer-based analyses and reports and provide regular reports to management.
•Train one or more associates on the critical elements of this position. This also includes becoming trained and proficient on the basic requirements of the Accountant position, Senior Accountant position and Accounts Payable.
Minimum of five years accounting experience within the financial institutionindustry and two years supervisory experience. B.A. /B.S. preferred in accounting or related field.Credit Union experience and CPA preferred.
