CalCom CU recently celebrated its 50th anniversary during the grand opening ceremony of its Long Beach corporate office on Bayer Avenue. In attendance, epitomizing the credit union difference, were other credit union CEOs who helped CalCom FCU celebrate this milestone. Larry Palochik, Senior Vice President, Member Solutions at the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues presented CalCom FCU President and CEO Jon Hernandez with a Certificate of Recognition.

“It was an honor celebrating CalCom’s 50th Anniversary and Grand Opening of their new facility in Long Beach,” said Palochik.  “Congratulations to President Jon Hernandez, Chairman Betty Wright, and the CalCom board and staff for their unwavering passion to serve their members and communities.”

CalCom FCU was founded on Feb. 28, 1968 as LICOMTO FCU and served the employees and family members of Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. In 2001, the field of membership was expanded to include health professionals within the South Bay and the name South Bay Health Services FCU was adopted. Over the next several years a series of merger-partnerships with “non-healthcare” credit unions occurred, until the name CalCom FCU was formally adopted to represent all of the California communities within its field of membership. CalCom FCU currently serves 9,500 members and has $64.7 million in assets.
