League Awards

The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues administer a variety of awards throughout the year.

California Credit Union League Awards
The California Credit Union League Awards program is a great opportunity for individuals, credit unions, and chapters to recognize the contributions of outstanding leaders within the credit union community:

  • The Leo H. Shapiro Lifetime Achievement Award—the League’s highest honor—recognizes an individual's lifetime of contributions to the credit union movement.
  • The Distinguished Service Awards—recognizing credit union professionals—honor individuals' ongoing and current contributions to the credit union community.
  • The Outstanding Volunteer Awards pay tribute to the significant contributions of persons who serve credit unions in a volunteer capacity as directors, supervisory committee members, or in another volunteer function.
  • The Tomorrow's Star Awards recognize the efforts of up-and-coming credit union leaders age 35 and under, and encourage the development of future leaders.

Dora Maxwell (Community Outreach) and Louise Herring Awards
The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service /Community Outreach Award recognizes the community service achievements of credit unions, multiple credit union groups, and chapters. It also honors those that have demonstrated an understanding of the importance of credit union membership and financial education, and awareness of the diverse and underserved groups within the community. The Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award recognizes credit unions that demonstrate in an extraordinary way the practical application of the credit union philosophy for their members.

First-place Dora Maxwell/Community Outreach winners in each asset category will be honored with a Community Outreach Award at the Leagues’ Annual Meeting and Convention. The winning entries will be forwarded to CUNA for the national-level competition. First-place winners in each asset category in the Louise Herring awards will receive a plaque in recognition and their entries will be forwarded to CUNA for the national-level competition.

Unsung Hero Award
The Unsung Hero Award was established to provide a means of honoring individuals who, over the course of their career, made significant contributions to the credit union movement in California/Nevada, but have not been recognized by way of major credit union awards at the state or national level.

Desjardins Youth and Adult Financial Education Awards
