On October 17 credit union members throughout California and Nevada will help support the life-saving efforts of local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals initiative simply by using their debit or credit cards.
On that day—which is also International Credit Union Day—each time members use their check or credit card, the participating credit unions will donate 25 cents to Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids), the largest fundraising arm of CMN. The donations through this "Create Miracles with Your Card” initiative will help provide much needed treatment for children who need the most care, as well as raise awareness of credit unions and their commitment to helping people.
On International Credit Union Day in 2012, California Credit Union in Glendale, Xceed Financial Federal Credit Union in El Segundo, SkyOne Federal Credit Union in Hawthorne, and Wescom Credit Union in Pasadena—participated in the first-ever initiative and raised $34,000.
In addition to California CU, Xceed Financial, SkyOne FCU, and Wescom, other credit unions participating in the 2013 event are Cal Poly Federal Credit Union, Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union in La Canada-Flintridge, Clark County Credit Union in Las Vegas, Eagle Community Credit Union in Lake Forest, Farmers Insurance Group Federal Credit Union in Los Angeles, Financial Partners Credit Union in Downey, First City Credit Union in Los Angeles, Health Associates Federal Credit Union in Orange, LBS Financial Credit Union in Long Beach, Kinecta Federal Credit Union, McKesson Employees’ Federal Credit Union in San Francisco, Orange County’s Credit Union in Santa Ana, Pacific Service Credit Union in Walnut Creek, Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, San Mateo Credit Union in Redwood City, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union in Santa Ana, and Southern California Postal Credit Union in Long Beach.
