CU VOLUNTEER WINS CITY COUNCIL SEAT

Board Director is Active in Community
Burbank City FCU Board Director Jess Talamantes, a 28-year credit union volunteer, won his reelection for the Burbank City Council last week.

Prior to his service on the city council, Talamantes worked 32 years as a firefighter for the city. Additionally, 21 years of his credit union volunteer service has been as a board member for Burbank City FCU.

First elected to the Burbank City Council in 2009, Talamantes served as vice mayor in 2010 and mayor in 2011. He's worked several years in local youth programs, with some of his most notable initiatives being "Ride a Bike with the Mayor," the "Mayor's Healthy Minute" on the Burbank TV channel, and the "Let's Move" campaign in conjunction with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Talamantes has also served on the Athletic Field Oversight Committee, Burbank Youth Task Force, San Fernando Valley Council of Governments, Los Angeles County Commission on Local Governmental Services, Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Transportation Committee, the Transit Services Task Force, as well as several local athletic and health initiatives.

Talamantes received 5,268 votes. His term expires in 2017.
