Maxwell, Herring, Desjardins Due July 26
The deadline to submit entries for the 2013 Community Outreach/Dora Maxwell, Louise Herring, and Desjardins awards is fast approaching. Entries are due Friday, July 26.
The Dora Maxwell/Community Outreach Award seeks to honor credit unions, multiple credit union groups, and chapters for their outstanding community outreach efforts. First-place winners in each asset category will be honored at the Leagues' 2013 Annual Meeting and Convention, which will be held October 28-30 in San Francisco, and their entries will be forwarded to the Credit Union National Association for the national-level competition.
Entries from first-place winners in each asset category for the Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award program will be forwarded to CUNA for the national-level competition. CUNA’s Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award recognizes financial education efforts for those under age 18, while the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award honors financial education efforts for age 18 and older. First-place state winners move on to the national competition.
In addition, the California Credit Union League still seeks nominations for its League Awards—Leo H. Shapiro Lifetime Achievement, Distinguished Service, Outstanding Volunteer, and Tomorrow’s Star. Recipients also will be honored at this year’s AMC. The deadline for nominations is Monday, August 5.
August 5 is also the deadline for nominations for the Unsung Hero Award, which honors those who’ve made significant contributions to the credit union movement in California or Nevada, but have not been recognized by way of major credit union awards at the state or national level. In addition, the Shapiro Group seeks nominations for the Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Awards, which recognizes individuals, credit unions, and other organizations that have helped one or more Shapiro Group credit unions succeed.
