102 Players Participate
The annual Richard Myles Johnson Foundation/CUNA Mutual Golf Tournament, held Aug. 19 at the Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, CA, raised approximately $50,000, which is a $23,000 increase from the year before.

Proceeds benefit the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation (RMJ), which provides support to California and Nevada credit unions’ financial literacy efforts.

The tournament attracted 102 paid golfers and 14 sponsors. Major sponsors included CUNA Mutual Group, CO-OP Financial Services, CU Direct, Educational Employees CU, Wescom CU, SchoolsFirst FCU, First Tech CU, and the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues.

"The RMJ/CUNA Mutual Golf Tournament was a huge success," said Tena Lozano, manager of consumer advocacy for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues. "The funds we raised will go a long way toward funding the 'Bite of Reality' initiative, our signature youth financial education program."

The first place winning team was Qu Nguyen, Louis Vasquez, Jason Hzen, and Armando Nodal of Wescom CU, while second place went to POPA FCU's Ray Leyva, Ray Bartus, Leon Brown, and Ben Holguin.

Third place winning group included Doug White, Andrew Dawson, and Craig Micklich of Ser Technology Corp. and Deutsche Bank.
