CU Digest Envisions Bigger Picture
Visualize walking into any—yes, any— of the nearly 7,000 credit unions across America to deposit a check, withdraw cash, transfer funds, or make a loan payment like you were standing inside your own credit union. Is it achievable? Realistic? Or even practical?
The executives behind CO-OP Shared Branching—a business entity of CO-OP Financial Services in Rancho Cucamonga, CA—believe this ambitious goal is attainable, or at least a version close to it.
"This is our zenith, our biggest moment," said Sarah Canepa-Bang, chief strategy officer of CO-OP Shared Branching, and president and COO of FSCC, LLC. "California is the canary in the mine shaft for a lot of things happening across the rest of the country. This state leads in every trend we see, so it’s table stakes here."
Time will tell whether the vision becomes a reality for the credit union industry’s biggest shared-branching network operator and largest credit union service organization. For now, dreaming will have to suffice, as dreams are often the first step to something greater.
