Help CU Employee's Daughter Reach Goal
The daughter of Schools FCU Executive Vice President and COO Carlos Garrido is spearheading an important initiative benefitting Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
Eileen Garrido, a 14-year-old patient from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, was born with a heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot, which can be fatal if left untreated. Since the age of five weeks, Eileen underwent multiple heart surgeries to repair her heart and will undergo another surgery on June 10.
Eileen has committed herself to raising $10,000 for the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles—which will be responsible for her heart procedure—by her scheduled surgery date. You can help her reach her goal by making a donation! Click here.
Donations are tax deductible.
"We are blessed to have this amazing hospital in our own backyard and will continue to do what we can to support it,” said Carlos. “Not only did it save Eileen's life, but it continues to enrich it by supporting her causes and providing her with amazing opportunities.”
A long-time friend of the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, Eileen did a show-stopping rendition of the National Anthem during the 2009 Annual Meeting and Convention. Since then she has performed at events that have helped raise millions for CHLA, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN), and other children's charities without ever charging for her performances.
