Project Zip Code
The first step is to update your credit union’s Project Zip Code data! The latest release of Project Zip Code (PZC) is now available for download. It will match credit union members to the newly sworn-in 113th Congress, as well as new state legislative districts.
The PZC national database website, www.pzconline.com, has also been updated with new district information.
With the release of PZC 13.0, the entire coding platform has been updated. Directions for installation and upload—which are mostly the same—allow the program to work faster. Also, PZC is better at maximizing the number of members matched to their districts.
Perhaps the greatest advancement with this new release is the PZC desktop application. The "Reports and Queries" are now exportable into several formats, including software programs Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe PDF. This enhancement will allow credit unions to better customize reports for legislators based on their credit union data.
CULAC Permission Agreement for PAC Contributions
The second step you can take to help ensure our movement's political activities are operating effectively, efficiently, and in line with the letter of the law is to sign a Permission Agreement for the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC)—the Political Action Committee (PAC) of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
This agreement is a document—usually signed by the president, CEO, manager, or chairman of the credit union—that allows the Association to solicit funds on behalf of CULAC, our federal PAC.
Federal election law prohibits asking for contributions to a federal PAC unless the organization gives you permission. For example, when attending CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C., only employees/members of a credit union with a permission agreement may participate in the CULAC Raffle.
By Signing the Permission Agreement:
