Greater Nevada CU gave students from Carson High School—where the credit union has a branch—the opportunity to design a debit card for student checking accounts through a contest. More than 60 students entered the contest, with a panel of students, teachers, and Greater Nevada CU representatives selecting the top three designs. The three winners combined their works of art into one final design to meet Visa's card company's criteria.

Travis CU President and CEO Patsy Van Owerkerk was named chairman of the Solano Economic Development Corp. Board of Directors, where she will work to strengthen the organization's economic development efforts to ensure Solano County, California remains strong in attracting businesses.

First Financial CU is celebrating 80 years of serving the financial needs of the California educational community. As part of the year-long 80th anniversary celebration, First Financial will offer members the 2013 Field Trip Grant Program, awarding up to 80 grants—each worth $250. Also, the credit union will donate up to $80 to California schools when members open a new checking account this year.

Visterra CU was recently named the 2013 Business of the Year by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce in the "large business" category during the organization's 59th Annual Installation and Awards Dinner. The chamber promotes and recognizes businesses in Moreno Valley, CA.
