Travis CU members and employees are giving back to the community this holiday season by participating in the Solano and Contra Costa Food Banks annual food drive, The Festival of Trees, Christmas Wish 2013, Toys for Tots, and the 2013 Children's Miracle Network Holiday Stocking Campaign.

C.R.C FCU employees took advantage of free shipping being offered by LBC cargo and carrier service to donate several bags of clothing to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Altura CU member Cody Matthews won $500 in the credit union's "You’re Gonna Love This Card" debit card promotion. The year-long campaign was designed to show how easy it is to use the Altura Visa Debit Card to make everyday purchases.

California Coast CU and San Diego State University (SDSU) have partnered on the renovation of the Open Air Theatre at SDSU. The on-campus amphitheater will be renamed the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theater. California Coast CU will also open a branch and ATM within the much-anticipated Aztec Student Union scheduled to open this January, and will partner with Associated Students of SDSU to provide financial seminars for students.

Educational Employees CU donated $24,250 to help establish the Honor Flight chapter and send 69 World War II veterans from Central California to Washington, D.C. to see their memorial on the inaugural Central Valley Honor Flight.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, South Bay CU partnered with Shared Bread, a non-profit organization that provides those in need with a weekly warm, cooked meal; warm clothing; hygiene items; professional counseling for employment and detox referrals; and food pantry distribution.

Pacific Service CU was recognized by the National Credit Union Administration for its role in fighting elder financial abuse. The credit union sponsored the Elder Financial Protection Network, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization that seeks to raise community awareness, and was praised for supporting state-wide forums and providing extensive abuse prevention training.

Arrowhead CU team members created hundreds of handmade cards for children undergoing treatment at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital. The Cards4Kidz program helps brighten the day of young patients by putting a card on their meal trays. Arrowhead CU also donated 2.5 tons of food to Mary’s Mercy House this past Thanksgiving. Team member Linda Espinosa, a self-proclaimed “super couponer”, helped the cause by clipping $5,000 to $6,000 in coupons.

Patelco CU launched its annual holiday fundraising campaign to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals with a goal of raising $25,000. Donations are being accepted via a Facebook app and at its branches. In 2012, the initiative raised $30,792.

Xceed Financial FCU employees battled it out in the iXceed Fiscal Fitness Challenge for Associates, a six-month long competition to help employees shape up their personal finances. Compliance Specialist Czarina Rojas earned the most points, saving $2,497 and paring down her debt by $10,600 during the course of the challenge. She won a $1,000 grand prize. In other news, Xceed Financial FCU member Stanley Williams won a $500 gift card in the Xceed Financial Amazon Check Card Sweepstakes. During the July 1 to Sept. 30, 2013 sweepstakes period, each time members used their Xceed check cards to make a purchase on, they were automatically entered to win the gift card prize.

Credit Union of Southern California employees participated in the annual 2013 Children’s Hospital of Orange County Walk on Oct. 13 at Disneyland Resort and raised $14,000 through its CU SoCal Helping Hands charity.

San Francisco FCU hosted a panel discussion about small-business ownership as part of its Women’s Wealth Initiative program, a financial education group for women in the Bay Area. San Francisco FCU also participated in the 2013 San Francisco International Auto Show as an official sponsor, where the credit union had lending professionals on site to answer questions about its auto loan program. Additionally, the San Francisco FCU Board of Directors donated $10,000 to the San Francisco Filipino Community Center to support Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. The credit union is also collecting funds for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and waiving international wire transfer fees to the Philippines through Dec. 31.

America's Christian CU and Nightlight Christian Adoptions celebrated the importance of adoption in honor of National Adoption Month. Nightlight is a well-known adoption service that has completed more than 2,000 domestic adoptions, 1,700 international adoptions, and 550 embryo adoptions. America's Christian CU has also partnered with the City of Glendora and the Glendora Community Coordinating Council in the annual Holiday Basket program to provide food to more than 400 families in need.
