Credit unions use social media in a variety of ways, including marketing, providing incentives, facilitating applications for new accounts, inviting feedback from the public, and engaging with existing and potential members. Using social media is a convenient (and inexpensive) way to advertise products and communicate with members but it is not without risks. Credit unions need to understand the rules that apply to advertising also apply to advertising on social media. Additionally, there can be privacy, membership information security, and physical security risks involved in using social media. This session will discuss these issues and provide some best practices credit unions can incorporate to help reduce the various risks involved when using social media.

Topics to be addressed in this webinar include:

  • Review of advertising compliance requirements
  • Privacy and security risks involved in credit union use of social media
  • Privacy and security risks involved in staff use of social media
  • Best practices when using social media

Who should attend:

  • Compliance staff
  • Marketing staff
  • CU Management

Although we have evolved over the past two decades into something much more complex and diverse, one thing remains the same: our core reason for existence. We are here to help the people “who help the people,” as the old credit union saying goes – to help credit unions help their members.
