With the new year gaining traction, the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues have hired new talent and filled key positions to advocate for your credit union!

The federal/state advocacy team (based in Sacramento) has just welcomed the following individuals who will work to deliver meaningful results for credit unions in Sacramento, Carson City, and Washington, D.C. Please join us in welcoming Robert Wilson, Heather deNecochea, and Emily Eichner to the team:

Robert Wilson
Robert will serve as vice president of state government affairs for the Leagues. He is the Leagues’ lead lobbyist in Sacramento and Carson City, working daily to ensure the state legislatures put credit unions first when it comes to financial services.

He spent the past five years working for members of the California State Legislature, serving as the legislative director for the minority floor leader during the past two years. Before working in the state capitol, he worked in the private sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Oregon. His email is robertw@ccul.org.

Heather deNecochea
Heather will serve as political affairs manager for the Leagues. Many League members have already had the chance to interact with her over the past few months as she organizes the Political Action Committee (PAC), oversees the participation in elections, engages League-member credit unions in fundraising for elected officials, as well as overall political strategy to maximize the political impact of credit unions in both California and Nevada.

She previously worked for Motor Vehicle Software Corporation (Vitu) as the public affairs manager, managing all aspects of the political budget and organizing and planning political events in multiple states. She has an extensive and successful background in campaign finance, managing political spending, and strategic election planning—and she holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from California State Sacramento. Here email is heatherd@ccul.org.

Emily Eichner
Emily will serve as advocacy specialist for the Leagues. She will be working to strengthen your grassroots participation in programs such as Connect for the Cause, Project Zip Code, and aid credit union advocacy efforts in local organizing.

She previously was government affairs assistant for the California Building Industry Association, where she was in charge of legislative research, bill tracking, position letters, committee hearings, membership committee meetings, development of materials and events, and other duties. She has also worked for the office of California Senator Joel Anderson (El Cajon and Sacramento)—and she holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and criminal justice from San Diego State University. Her email is emilye@ccul.org.

Serving YOU in 2019
These three individuals will be joining Bob Arnould (Senior Vice President of Advocacy), Jeremy Empol (Vice President of Federal Government Affairs), Sharon Turley (Vice President of Regulatory Advocacy) and Patti Neumaier (Executive Assistant) as the Leagues represent credit unions in both states.

“As our team continues to evolve, we look forward to fighting for credit unions in the new year,” Arnould said. “We are honored to continue to defend the financial cooperatives we serve, as we are always ready to face a number of proposed bills and regulations that will potentially impact our members.”
