‘CU FinHealth,’ Youth Month Resources, & Foundation Report

Join your credit union peers and leaders from across the nation for the 7th Annual CU FinHealth Conference from April 18 – 20 in Las Vegas, NV!

This is the industry’s leading financial wellbeing event — co-hosted by the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues — is dedicated to sharing knowledge, resources, and strategies necessary to help credit unions and system partners improve the financial health of their members and communities.

Connections between financial wellbeing, physical health, payments, technology, and advocacy will also be explored! CU FinHealth examines how credit unions are measuring their members’ financial health and wellbeing, working to improve it, and documenting the results. Additional discussions and talks include multi-sector solutions to address the drivers of financial wellbeing and health, learning from each other’s efforts, exploring strategies for engaging new partners, and leveraging technology to truly improve members, employees, and communities.

CUFinHealth 23 is also co-hosted by the National Credit Union Foundation and the Cornerstone Foundation. Through in-person experiential learning with keynotes, panels, discussions, and workshops with all participants, this year’s conference objectives include:

  • Understanding the current state of financial wellbeing through research, data, and practitioner perspective.
  • Learning how to enhance the member and employee experience with inclusive initiatives and impact measurement.
  • Creating partnerships through collaborative discussions, activities, and networking opportunities.
  • Addressing industry issues and finding solutions to overcome barriers to financial wellbeing for all.
  • Gathering and sharing resources to enrich programs, strengthen strategic initiatives, and reinforce sustainability plans.
  • Discovering ways to revolutionize financial health with innovative products, services, and platforms.

‘Credit Union Youth Month’ Theme & Resources
April is National Credit Union Youth Month, the time each year when credit unions teach and encourage kids to develop strong financial habits. This year’s theme is: “Unleash the Power of Saving at Your Credit Union”.

Youth Month presents an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of the credit union movement with younger members and plant the seeds of financial wellbeing at an early age. Last year, 713 new youth accounts were opened and 23,490 deposits made during Youth Month. Participating credit unions encouraged kids to share, spend and save wisely through their credit union with giveaways, contests, virtual financial education and more.

This year, there are many opportunities for credit unions and their members to get involved in this industrywide celebration, including contests and giveaways (coloring or writing contests), special incentives and promotions (for opening a new account), financial literacy workshops for young members, special savings to match programs for youth accounts, branch parties, and participating in the “National Youth Saving Challenge.” Learn more, get free resources, and purchase themed assets and products here.

You and your credit union are part of a support system that can help kids understand the importance of saving and developing good financial habits. Together, let’s “Unleash the Power of Saving at Your Credit Union”!

Foundation Releases 2022 Impact Report
The National Credit Union Foundation helped credit unions navigate the modern-day challenges of growing membership, managing risk, retaining talent and developing a mission-driven culture in 2022, according to its latest impact report.

The charitable arm of the U.S. credit union movement provided this support through grant initiatives, system-leading education and events, resource development and disaster relief — delivering on its mission to serve as a catalyst to improve people’s lives through credit unions.

The impact report provides greater detail of the organization’s far-reaching activities, including its signature Development Education (DE) program that celebrated a 40-year milestone in 2022; the CU FinHealthTM financial wellbeing event; and how almost $600,000 of disaster relief supported over 1,000 credit union employees and volunteers through the CUAid program.
