CA and NV Crush CULAC Goals in ‘$30 by June 30’ Challenge

The Credit Union Legislative Action Council’s (CULAC) yearly “$30 by June 30th Fundraising Challenge” netted $51,900 in June, with California raising $10,395 and Nevada raising $1,050. California credit union leaders raised the most of any state this year and the highest-ever amount in its CULAC fundraising history, while Nevada leaders brought in the most they ever have and crushed their goal!

Both states far exceeded the performance from last year by increasing contributions, with California raising contributions by 66 percent and Nevada raising contributions by a staggering 453 percent.

Additionally, the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues would like to congratulate Geri LaChance (CEO of SESLOC FCU) and Ron Sweeney (CEO of Sierra Central CU) for winning this year’s League $30-by-June 30 Sweepstakes! This Leagues sweetened the pot by including this additional sweepstakes. For every $30 donation, participants were automatically entered to win a $250 gift card to The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, where the Leagues’ annual convention — REACH 2023 — will be taking place from Oct. 22 – 26. This gift card is good at Sahra Spa, Salon & Hammam, pools, shops, and select restaurants and lounges.

“A big thank you goes out to California and Nevada CULAC leaders and all contributors from both states,” said Angelica Pappalardo, political advocacy manager for the Leagues. “Your contributions help form impactful relationships with lawmakers and candidates, educate them on the credit union difference, and elect those who put credit unions and our members first.”

The CULAC donor list will be on full display at the Leagues’ annual conference in October during the PAC Contributors Reception. CULAC is the prime resource to help provide a voice for credit unions on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., all while supporting the ongoing mission to enhance financial wellbeing for all consumers.

“Your contribution to CULAC helps support candidates for Congress who share that critical goal,” Pappalardo said. “As the Leagues gear up for future elections, these donations will help weigh-in on critical congressional races to ensure the credit union movement elects credit union-friendly candidates into Congress. Each donor’s support goes a long way.”
