Credit Union Advocacy Participants Build Grassroots Strength

This week, the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues hosted its much-anticipated Advocacy Workshop in Sacramento, CA to continue building upon credit unions’ grassroots strength and expanding the Leagues’ network of advocates across the movement.

About 50 attendees from credit unions across California and Nevada joined the Leagues for a full day of advocacy programming, including three panel discussions, an election recap from guest speakers, a briefing from California State Assembly Banking and Finance Committee Chair Tim Grayson, and other important legislative, regulatory, and political discussions from the Leagues.

“Thank you to all who participated in the workshop, and a special ‘thank you’ goes out to our credit union panelists and event sponsors — American Share Insurance/Excess Share Insurance and CUNA Mutual Group,” said Emily Udell, policy advocate for state government affairs at the Leagues.

This exclusive one-day workshop for those seeking to amplify their credit union’s advocacy program focused on strengthening communication skills required for effective legislative and regulatory meetings and spotlighted fresh concepts about targeting and maintaining relationships with important community leaders.

Those attending learned to enhance their credit union advocacy efforts to lead to victories in Sacramento, Carson City and Washington, D.C., as well as heighten their credit union’s presence in local communities.

Going forward, please join the Leagues for the upcoming California Virtual Regional Advocacy Meetings starting next week! All five meetings are online and free for credit union employees and volunteers to attend.
