Deadline is Today for Voicing Interest in ‘Green Loan’ EPA Grants

Today is the deadline for voicing your credit union’s interest regarding an opportunity to join others nationwide in pursuing large federal grants to offer affordable green loans to credit union members.

Applications to receive these grant funds from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are due very soon.

To bolster the application being submitted by Ecority (an independent nonprofit applying for grant funds on behalf of credit unions and Community Development Financial Institutions), the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues are asking credit unions to indicate their interest in receiving up to $10 million in grant funds by emailing GGRF@ecority.org no later than end-of-day TODAY, September 15 (responses received today will be prioritized).

Voicing your credit union’s interest is non-binding and does not create any obligation with the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). However, broad interest signaled by many credit unions that voice their interest before the end of today will indicate to the EPA that the industry can reach several communities across the nation.

For credit unions that immediately indicate their interest today and eventually move forward with an application, the EPA will announce award recipients in spring of 2024. If approved, your credit union would most likely be able to provide affordable green loans to members under this program in the summer of 2024.
