CA Boasts 3rd Place Winner; NV Fundraising Hits New Record

Jeff Napper — CEO of LBS Financial CU in Long Beach, CA — is the third place grand prize winner of the Credit Union Legislative Action Council’s (CULAC) 2023 Governmental Affairs Conference Grand Sweepstakes!

“We want to thank Jeff, as well as all donors, for your outstanding support during this year’s GAC Grand Sweepstakes,” said Angelica Pappalardo, political advocacy manager for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues. “Because of contributors like you, the credit union movement can continue advocating for its members every year in local districts and on Capitol Hill.”

During every GAC — the credit union industry’s annual national political advocacy event — the Grand Sweepstakes raises funds to support credit union-friendly lawmakers and candidates, boosting CULAC’s advocacy outreach over the long term.

This year, nearly $258,000 was raised at GAC, with supporters from California and Nevada contributing $53,411. The monies that the Leagues and its member-credit union leaders raised represented 21 percent of CULAC’s total! California raised $46,214, and Nevada raised a record breaking $7,197 — exceeding that state’s goal of $5,000.

Fellow winners from California and Nevada include:

  • Rudy Pereira (Premier America CU) — CUMoney Visa Gift Card
  • Theresa Lupori (Financial Horizons CU) — Visa Gift Card
  • Gregory Hanshaw (Community First CU) — Meal Kit
  • Jake Harbour (Santa Barbara County FCU) — Wine

  • Yadhira Cuadra Kim (UNIFY Financial CU) — Powerbeats Pro Earbuds
  • Jose Luis Pacheco (Santa Clara County FCU) — The Nest Hub
  • Stephanie Sievers (AltaOne FCU) — Cotopaxi gift card

Additionally, California came in first place and Nevada came in eight place out of all 50 U.S. states! The Leagues would like to thank all contributors throughout California and Nevada, all credit unions nationwide, and fellow leagues and associations that participated this year.
